Part 1: My first month as a YHE intern

image1 (1)“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try” – a quote my college professor borrowed when talking to a room full of aspiring public relations students who were on the brink of securing their internships.

When I began my internship hunt, I felt I needed a place where I was comfortable. Coming from a public relations background, I didn’t picture a career in event planning. Although it’s one of many disciplines of PR, it was never one I thought of pursuing. Truthfully, I had no idea what my next steps after college were. What I did know was I had to be open to all the opportunities knocking on my door, and YellowHouse Events was one of them.

Balzacs our neighbourhood coffee shop, has brought two of our favourite things together: coffee and waffle-cones!
So we had to try it. The warm latte melts the chocolate just a little with each sip, making for the perfect sweetener in a container that is both delicious and green. This is definitely a trend we are keeping our eyes WIDE open for.

You are:

  • Someone with 2 – 5 years of experience managing events ideally on the agency side.
  • Tech-savvy, social-media-savvy, trend-savvy, design savvy and know your way around a database and MS Office.
  • Graphic design or 3D rendering skills would be an asset (not a pre-requisite).   
  • You are super-organized, customer service oriented, creative, resourceful and a team player who is able to work quickly and accurately.
  • You have extremely strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • You love creating experiences for brands.
  • But mostly, you are nice with a good sense of humour!

Our projects vary from experiential, to sponsorship activations, to incentives, to galas, to product launches, to roadshows, to some (un)conferences, to employee events. We love what we do.

You are:

  • Someone with 1-3 years of experience as an EA or front desk supervisor.
  • Tech-savvy, social-media-savvy, web savvy, trend-savvy, design savvy and know your way around a database and MS Office.  
  • You are super-organized, customer service oriented, resourceful and a team player who is able to work quickly and accurately.
  • You have extremely strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • You take pride in running an office smoothly and providing strong admin support, from managing shipping and couriers to ordering supplies and preparing meeting rooms for external client meetings.
  • Although this is primarily a 9am-5pm gig, you wouldn’t mind being on-site to help out when needed.
  • But mostly, you are nice with a good sense of humour!
